Arya frowned as she saw her daddy attached to a bag of clear stuff. It made her very sad to see her mummy and daddy sick. Sniffling softly she tip toed into the room and crawled up into their bed. Her daddy felt so warm and cozy from sleep and she shimmied her way in between her parents so they would have to hold her for just a little bit.
Holding her daddy's free hand she sniffled. Whatever was wrong either of her mummy and daddy she hoped that she could make them feel better.
"I love you daddy," she whispered, kissing his cheek. "Feel better...please?"

Draco's heart squeezed at the little girl's heartfelt words. She reminded him so much of Cory. Cory had cried when he had first learned Draco had to stay in bed for three days. But then he had been encouraged to help take care of him by his grandma, and that had mede him feel a lot better.
"You know, Arya, what will make your daddy feel a whole lot better? If you help me and your mummy take care of him. Your mum's just very tired from taking care of your dad, that's why she's resting."
"Can I help too, Dad?" asked Cory, coming into the room. He looked like a mini version of Draco, only he had huge baby blue eyes. "Dad, I need help with my zipper," he whispered, tugging on Draco's hand.
Draco knelt and zipped up his son's jeans. "You may. I'm going to need lots of help."
"I'm a good helper," Cory said proudly to Arya. "One time my dad hurt his back and he had to stay in bed like forever. And I helped Nana bring him potions, and sandwiches, and juice. Nana said I was the best helper, even better'n Misty. We can help Dad bring Uncle Harry n' Aunt Rennie some medicine and make them all better."
He walked over to the bed and peered down at the sleeping couple. He looked at the odd bag attached to his Uncle Harry's arm and winced. "That's a big needle. It must have hurt getting that in his arm. I'm glad I never have to get one of those!" He shivered. "I don't like needles. One time . . . I had to get a needle in my bum so's I wouldn't get sick," he confided to Arya. "It made me cry a lot. It really hurt! Did you ever have to get one?"

Arya snuggled into her daddy protectively and nodded. She remembered her grandpa giving her one because she wouldn't drink one of his nasty potions. She couldn't help it that they tasted so awful, but she would take tasting them over the sting of a shot in the bum.
"Yeah," she nodded. "They feel really bad. Daddy had to get one in his bum too when he was little, grandpa told me so."
Arya rubbed her daddy's arm gently and kissed his forehead, just as her mummy did when she was sick.
"Uncle Draco," Arya said pulling herself up. "We should make daddt's favorite dinner! That way mummy doesn't have to cook!"

Draco grinned. "That sounds like a wonderful idea, Arya. You tell me what we need and I'll get it ready. Did you eat lunch yet?"
Cory nodded. "Nana made me grilled cheese."
"Of course she did, it's your favorite," laughed Draco. "With tomato soup?" It had been his favoite as well when he was that age.
"Yup." He patted Harry's arm. "Feel better soon, Uncle Harry." He looked at Arya. "It's a long time till we have to cook dinner. Tell my dad what we need to cook and then we can play."

Arya crawled out of the bed and smiled up at her uncle. Her daddy's favorite home-made meal was her mummy's homemade macaroni and cheese. It was so warm and gooey that no one could resist it. Her mummy would bake it in the oven and it would just make the whole house smell amazing.
"Mummy makes macaroni and cheese," she nodded. "She uses the spiral noodles though, and they have gooey cheese all over. But you have to make the cheese like mummy does, otherwise it's nasty."
Arya was very particular about how she liked her food prepared, if it wasn't done right she wouldn't touch it. Her mummy said she was going to be the death of her, but Arya thought it was important to be picky when it came to food.
"Cory and I can help grate the cheese!"

"Yeah!" Cory said eagerly. "I help Misty at home. She lets me stir the soup an' the cake batter. An' then I get to lick the bowl. I like macaroni and cheese too. The only one who doesn't at home is Grandpa. He likes fettucini alfredo. Nana says he's a picky eater an' he'll probably be one till the day he dies."
Draco had to cover his mouth to keep from laughing. His son was a little parrot and repeated everything. "Shhh. . . let's go downstairs and grate the cheese and then you can go play."
The children followed him downstairs to the kitchen. Draco got the cheddar cheese out and handed the two children each a grater and a bowl. As they grated, Cory continued to talk to Arya. "Nana tol' me that Aunt Ren's gonna have a baby. She said you're gonna have a baby brother. I wish I had a baby."
Draco almost choked on his glass of water. Not this again! "Scorpius, remember what I told you the other day? About how maybe Hermione might marry me and then you'd have Rosie as your sister?"
"Uh huh. But it's not the same, Daddy! Rosie's older, she's a BIG sister! I wanna be the big one, and that means I need a real baby." He stated firmly. "I could have a baby brother or a sister. And I get to name it."
"You do, huh?" his father raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, 'cause I'm the big brother. If it's a boy I'll name him Devin and a girl will be Ariel."
As names went, they weren't bad, Draco mused. "We'll see, scamp. First though, Daddy has to get married."
"To Hermione," Cory nodded. "I know, Dad. Hermione tol' me she'd love me to be her little boy. Just like I'm Nana's little boy. I used to be my mummy's little boy, but she ran away with a two-bit piece of trash like a tart and that's why she don't live with me anymore."
Draco nearly passed out. "Scorpius Lucius Malfoy! Where did you hear that?"
"Grandpa said it. He was talking to Uncle Sev in the fire an'I heard it," the boy answered innocently.
"How many times have I told you not to repeat conversations adults are having, young man?" Draco asked sternly.
"Umm . . . a lot. Am I in trouble, sir?" Cory asked, looking pitiful. He only called his daddy "sir" when his daddy was mad. "Like with soap?"
"No, but you will be if you say that again. It's not a nice thing to say about your mum," Draco sighed, relenting. Even if it WAS true, Draco didn't want Cory being ashamed of his mother. That was too much of a burden to put on a four year old. But someday, he would have to tell him the truth. He would have to warn Lucius about making sure Cory wasn't in the room when he made a firecall next time.
Cory heaved a sigh of relief and continued scraping the cheese across the grater. He was very happy his daddy wasn't mad enough to make him eat soap. "Soap tastes nasty!" He whispered to Arya. "Daddy makes me eat it if I say bad words. Only he's allowed to say them, 'cause he's a grown up."

Arya giggled as Cory talked, he sure did say a lot of funny things. Her mummy told her that Cory's mouth ran a mile a minute, she didn't really understand what she meant by that, but she was sure it was happening right now.
Taking the cheese and rubbing it against the grater she looked up at her Uncle Draco. She wondered why he came to pick her up and not mummy or daddy. It was usually always mummy or daddy, not that Arya minded. Her uncle was the coolest, it was just that she missed her daddy a lot.
"Uncle Draco," she asked suddenly. "Why didn't you ever ask my mummy to marry you? She's nicer than that other lady. Grandpa said that he thought you were gonna when mummy was in school. Did you like mummy? I don't think daddy would be okay with that...grandpa says he would have been stuck with some two bit frump fan girl if it wasn't for mummy."
Mixing the cheese with her hand she looked up.
"What's a frump?"

Draco started laughing. The things these two kids came out with! When he managed to get himself under control he said, "Well, Arya, I did think about marrying your mum when I was in school for a little bit. I liked her a lot, but . . . your daddy loved her more. And she loved your daddy best of all. And my dad, Cory's grandpa, wanted me to marry Cory's mum, so that's what I did, because in my family you married who your daddy told you to."
"Didn't you love my mum?" asked Cory.
"Once I did, son," Draco lied. Well, it wasn't quite a lie, because he could have loved her if she had loved him back. He changed the subject quickly. Astoria was not on his top ten list of favorite subjects to talk about. "A frump is . . . well . . . it's a word for a woman who . . .dresses plain and is . . . sort of boring and ugly and not really a nice person."
"Like an old maid," Cory put in. "Nana said that Prissy Hearkness down the street's an old maid."
Draco hit himself in the forehead. Merlin save him!

Arya smiled as her uncle laughed. She was glad that her mummy had married her daddy. Serenity loved her uncle, but no one could beat daddy in her mind. After stealing a bite of cheese from the bowl she sighed.
"When will mummy and daddy wake up?" she asked. "I miss them both."
Arya had hoped her daddy would help her with some of her school work, but if they weren't awake to make her....then Arya couldn't help if it didn't get done.
"Uncle Draco I want pumpkin juice, please?"

"Soon, princess." Draco said, trying to distract her. He poured pumpkin juice into two small glasses for both of them. "Here you go. Be careful not to spill it."
Both children eagerly drank it down, grating cheese was thirsty work!
Cory set the glass on the table and said, "Is this enough cheese, Daddy? My hand is tired."
Draco came over to see. "Yes. You two did an excellent job. I think I can manage the rest. You two should go and play. I'll call you when it's time for dinner."
"What else are we havin'?" Cory asked.
"Uh . . . some bread with butter and . . . broccoli with cheese sauce," Draco thought fast, naming one of the vegetables Cory would actually eat. Lately he'd been going through a "veggies are gross" phase.
"Yum!" Cory clapped his hands. Then he climbed down from the chair and said to his cousin, "Arya, you wanna play hide-n-go-seek? Or Simon Says? Or something else, like Hospital? I play that with Nana, and we only give the patients potions that tast like fruit and no shots ever, 'cause we're not mean an' don't like to make kids cry."

Serenity had awoke when she realized that the house had become eerily quiet. Now that she was a mum of one very, rambunctious, four year old silence usually meant trouble.
Wiping the sleep from her eyes, she glanced over and checked her husband. Kissing him softly she crawled out of bed and made her way downstairs.
A smile came across her features as she found Draco and two munchkins in the kitchen making supper.
"Hmm..." she smirked. "Someone making us dinner...where's your apron Draco?"

"Real men don't wear aprons, Ren," Draco said loftily. "How are you feeling? You missed the discussion of the decade here. Those two have everything planned out, from what I'm supposed to name my baby with Hermione to what's for dinner and how you ought to run a hospital. I'm told the best way is with fruit-flavored potions and no shots."
He bent and ruffled Cory's hair and then Arya's. "These two are a trip! Merlin forbid when they get together with Rosie. The three of them will be running the country next!"
"This was Arya's idea. So you didn't have to cook and she says it's Harry's favorite dinner."
"Mine too!" piped up Cory. "Hello, Aunt Rennie! When's the baby gonna get borned?"
"Scorpius! I swear, he just says whatever comes into his head!" Draco groaned.
"What? Why can't I ask that?" the little boy wanted to know.

Serenity smiled at Scorpius and gently ruffled his blond hair. It wasn't like Draco had room to talk, when he had been a child he used to say MANY things that would just pop into his head. He also did it often as a teenager as well.
"Yes, it is Harry's favorite," she nodded. "Thank you for making it."
Taking a seat at the island counter she sighed and began grating a bit more cheese for the macaroni. Harry and Arya liked their pasta thick with cheese, Serenity knew that if there wasn't enough it would all go to waste.
"In a couple months honey," she smiled. "And yet not soon enough."

"Oh," said Cory. "That's a long time." Now that it looked like the adults were taking over the cooking, he turned to Arya. "C'mon, let's go play." He tugged on her hand.
"Hold it, Mr. Impatience," said Draco. "Maybe Arya would like to say hello to her mum first."
"We did that already," Cory pointed out. "Upstairs when they were sleepin'." But he let go of Arya's arm. Then he stuck his hands in his pockets and sighed. He really wanted to go play before it was time to eat. "Dad, how come boys can't have babies?"
Draco coughed. "Uh . . . because we're not . . . made to have them, son. It's not how nature made us."
Cory's brow wrinkled. "Is it 'cause we have penises and girls have vaginas?"
Draco went red. "Good God! Who told you that?" he demanded of his son.
"When I went over Hermione's house with Rose, we watched Discovery Channel."
"Great! Just great!" Draco groaned. Now he had a four-year-old who knew antomically correct names for the reproductive system.
"You didn't answer my question, Dad. Is it?"
Draco groaned. "Ask your aunt."

Serenity felt a laugh escape her throat and she had to grip the counter to keep from laughing aloud. She now had a newfound respect for Hermione. At least until Draco put her on the spot and she had two innocent faces looking at her.
"Well..." she coughed. "Quite frankly...yes. A mummy has certain parts that can hold and carry a baby and a daddy doesn't. Plus...daddy's are too wimpy to be able to give birth anyway."
Serenity smirked and looked up at her friend.
"Isn't that right, Draco dear?"
