Dom was in a bit of a hurry. He'd been looking for this particular book for months and now that he had it, he wanted to read it as soon as possible. It, funnily enough, wasn't about Astronomy, or anywhere close. It was a book that he'd heard about for years, and had seen the movie when he was younger, but for some reason, no bookshop carried it. He'd had to special order it from the States, and he found that amusing, as the author had been from the southern portion of those same States, and the book had been about the American Civil War. Kind of. He found that he was close to Diagon Alley, and needed to take a small amount out of his vault in Gringott's to pay for a delivery to Star Keepers. He could make it fast and get back to the house before the person showed with the new equipment that he'd ordered. He chuckled inwardly at that thought. He was the owner of a shop! Something that he'd not thought he would do when he was seventeen. Then he'd not been sure what he wanted to do at all. It hadn't been until he was actually no longer a student that he'd even started to consider that he needed to find a career. Then he'd gone into the thought that he wanted to have an Observatory. Somewhere it was nice and dark at night, unpolluted by the London lights, as much as he loved those, he loved nature's twinkling little lights more. He had to stop to let a group of children go past with their more than exhausted looking mother and he heard his name. Turning, he found his other reason for living, his beloved Lavender. She was coming out of the Apothecary, and he was more than happy to see her. She brightened his day considerably, even though she had been keeping something from him for the last twelve years. He hoped that one day she'd tell him what that thing was, but he wasn't going to push her for it, that was not the way that Dom was. He was more than patient, even when he wasn't patient. "Hey, baby!" he said, going over to her and kissing her cheek. "You've been doing some shopping as well, huh? Don't mind the book, I have just been wanting to read it since I saw Gone With the Wind. Had no idea it would be so hard to find. Would you like to go to Gringott's with me?" Dominic

Dominic smiled softly at his beloved star. Taking her hand, he led the way to the tall, white building that was Gringott's. Passing the sign that hung just outside the doors, still bearing their warning to thieves. Inside, he gave his key to the goblin that met with them and headed down to their now joined vault, holding Lavender's hand the whole way. He'd had another reason for this trip. All the other times he'd had the chance to give her this, and he'd chickened out. She had to think that he wasn't serious about them marrying if he'd not given her a ring. He had, but he'd not been able to give it to her as of yet. To him, this ring meant everything. From the day that he'd bought it when he was seventeen and then placed it in the vault when he'd learned she was missing. During the search for her, he'd sworn to himself that he'd put that ring on her finger if it were the last thing that he'd do. But since he'd located her, and had the feeling that something wasn't right, but waiting for her to tell him, the ring still stayed in his vault. But now, as he was with her and they were already there, he was going to do this. No matter that it wasn't the most romantic thing ever, especially since it was in Gringott's that he was doing it. He wanted to have his ring on Lavender's finger, and make it official to everyone that she was his fiancee. When they had reached the combined vault they shared, Dom helped Lavender out of the cart and waited while the Goblin unlocked the door, opening it for the couple. Dom stepped forward and retrieved the money he needed for the delivery, and enough for their expenses for the month, then turned to a little stand that a tiny box rested upon. Picking it up, he turned to his Lavender, and opening the box, he sank down to one knee. "Lavender Brown, I know that I have asked you this in the past, and I know that you have accepted, but I want it to be official, and for that, I need this to be on your finger." He took the ring from the box, and showed it to her as he placed it where he longed for it to be. "Lavender, will you marry me?" Dominic's Ring

Dominic had felt his heart thudding in his chest, nervous that Lavender would change her mind about marrying him, they'd been engaged for so long, and this was the first he'd said anything about the ring he'd had for her when the war had begun. Relief washed over him in such a rush, he became lightheaded and almost had to sit down.
He kissed Lavender over and over, happiness building to a head and he startled the goblin when he crowed his elation after only a few minutes.
"I'm engaged to this magnificent woman!" he announced to the glowering creature, who shushed him and ushered them back to the cart to return to the surface. Back in the light of day, Dominic took Lav's hand and made sure that the gem on the ring caught every ray of light it could, so all who saw it would know his happiness. He wanted to begin planning their wedding now that he'd given her the sign of his intent.
"Lavender, my Star, whenever you want to say our vows, I'm there. Midnight of the day of a total eclipse? No problem. The Queen's birthday? I'm available. Whenever you want to get married, I'll be right by your side, saying my vows with you."
He kissed her hand and all the way up her arm to her lips, hugging her tightly in his arms. Now, whatever it was that she'd been distressed over, he hoped she'd let him be part of. They were going to spend their lives together, he didn't want her to feel she couldn't tell him something. There was nothing in the world she could tell him that he'd not understand.
"Is there anything else that you want to do today, my love?" Dominic asked, wanting to celebrate their engagement more and more.

That was music to Dominic's ears. Lavender saying that she wanted to celebrate their engagement. Oh, he had plans running through his head now. He was going to take her to dinner and then whatever she wanted to do. She wanted to go dancing, to the movies, he was totally up for anything.
"First off, we are going shopping to get you a spectacular new dress so that I can take you out to dinner. And I'm not going to take no for an answer. I want to show off that ring, and I'm sure that you do too, since I took long enough to put it on your finger."
He kissed her hand and then her lips, so proud that she was going to be his wife. He sensed that something was troubling her, but he wasn't going to push for her to tell him if she wasn't ready. She'd let him know if she wanted him to. If she didn't, then it wasn't going to make him fret unnecessarily. The only thing that bothered him was that he saw the slight worry and fear in her eyes, whether she knew that she was showing it or not.
"Now, what kind of dress would you like, my Star? And don't worry about the price, we've made quite a profit this month and can certainly afford something to make you happy."
He took Lavender's hand and led her down the main path of Diagon Alley.

Dom looked around the inside of this shop that his lady had brought him to. LOTS of lace and stays and the like. She certainly did want to make him work to get her out of her clothes later. He'd not be worried about that. He didn't mind what it would take to make her happy. And she was certainly that right now, he could see the glow she had from the ring on her finger. He could only wish that he'd given it to her sooner.
He picked up the sleeve of a light green velvet concontion, dropping it when he looked it over, thinking it wasn't right for his Lavender. Only the best for her. He'd always thought that and was more than willing to let her have free reign in this shop to buy whatever she wanted. But he did have to remember the delivery to the shop and how much that was going to cost him. So he whispered that she could browse and choose one thing that she very much liked and model it for him. If she loved it as much as he thought he would, then he'd buy it for their dinner date.
"But you better hurry before I start shopping for you myself," he said cheekily, patting her bum to get her moving and looking for her dress.
